The doctors at the Center


Edward A. Markowitz D.C., D.A.C.B.O.H. received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1979, graduating magna cum laude from Northwestern College of Chiropractic. Since 1979 he has been one of the Clinical Directors of Physicians Health and Injury Center.

Dr. Markowitz has completed a three-year diplomat program in Occupational Healthcare, and frequently consults many corporations on ergonomics as well as the prevention and treatment of work-related injuries. Dr. Markowitz is a member of the Foundation of Wellness Professionals and the Danbury Hospital Spinal Surgery Committee.

In addition, Dr. Markowitz lectures on the topics of sports and work injury prevention, natural solutions to health problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, decreasing the harmful effects of stress, acupressure, chiropractic and wholistic health.



Dr. Jeremie Rachunow, MD received her undergraduate degree from Skidmore College and her Medical Degree from Columbia University and Yale Medical School. She completed her medical residency at Columbia University/Bassett Health Care Center.

Dr. Rachunow is board certified in family medicine and anti-aging medicine.  She is also certified in the use of Botox and Collagen injections for facial rejuvenation.

Dr. Rachunow has over 20 years clinical experience in practice and her care includes expertise in the areas of physical medicine, anti-aging medicine, natural solutions to pain and female hormonal problems, nutritional counseling and wellness care.

Dr. Rachunow is presently clinical Director of Medical Services at Champion Medical Health Care Centers in New York City and Physicians Health and Injury Centers in Ridgefield and Danbury, CT.



Dr. Barry G. Cohen received his Bachelor of Science degree in education with honors from Southern Connecticut State University in 1969. Dr. Cohen was awarded his Doctorate of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College in 1977. He served as assistant director of Special Services at New York Chiropractic College. Dr. Cohen is a board member of the Yale Griffin Prevention Research Center and an associate to Yale Medical Library.

Dr. Cohen lectures and oversees research on many topics concerning the conservative treatment of trauma, performance injuries and work related accidents.

The professional staff at the Center



Terri-Gayle Mazur, R.P.T., L.M.T. is a registered Physical Therapist and Licensed Massage Therapist. She graduated summa cum laude from Quinnipiac College with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1982 and from Galen Institute of Massage Therapy in 2000.

Since graduating from Quinnipiac College, Terri-Gayle has completed multiple courses in Osteopathic Manual Therapy techniques, including Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Muscle Energy and Visceral Manipulation.

Terri-Gayle joined Physicians Health and Injury Center in 2005. She is a Connecticut native and enjoys hiking, biking, horseback-riding, ballroom dancing, poetry and singing.



Karla Alstranner M.S. graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor's degree from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. At that time she studied under the well known biochemist/nutritionist, Jeffrey Bland Ph.D. Continuing her education, Karla graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1982 with a Master's Degree in biochemistry/nutrition.

Karla has worked as a nutrition consultant in Fairfield County for the past 15 years.



Diane Calamar, NASM, AFAA, Certified Personal Trainer
Diane has been a fitness professional for 17 years and holds multiple certifications such as National Academy of Sports Medicine, AFAA, and is also an LMA-Certified Nutrition Specialist.  She works in clinical, corporate and commercial fitness settings and specializes in everything ranging from special needs clients and post-rehabilitative to competitive athletes. Diane does one-on-one personal training, nutritional counseling, and teaches group exercise classes at several locations in addition to working with our patients at Physicians Health and Injury Center.



Christopher L. Ladd, L.M.T. is a licensed massage therapist and is here to offer patients relief with therapeutic massage, including Swedish, sports and deep tissue modalities. Christopher received his training at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Newington, CT.

Christopher says his goal is to help people recover from injury, prevent injury and relieve chronic tension.

A New Milford native, Christopher graduated from Immaculate High School.



Cyndi Marks, R.T.R. is a registered Radiologic Technologist. She graduated from the Danbury Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in 1997 with ultrasound and radiology experience.

Cyndi belongs to the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists. She also received advanced training in radiology with Dr. Lynnewood Hammer of New Haven.

Cyndi is a Danbury native and is a graduate of the Henry Abbott Technical School. She has worked with patients at Physicians Health and Injury Center for seven years.
